English new wave band formed in 1982 in Liverpool, consists of Peter Coyle, Jeremy Kelly (The Wild Swans) and Stephen Emmer, past members were Gerrard Quinn (The Teardrop Explodes and The Wild Swans) and Michael Dempsey (The Cure & The Associates). Their debut single "The First Picture of You", became a hit in the UK and in Europe. The band's debut studio album, "No Sense of Sin" was released in 1984 on Arista Records. You should listen to the compilation "First Picture of You" on Vinyl Japan in 1998.

Adam formed Fountains of Wayne in 1995, Andy married to Dominique and formed Brookville in the 00's. He also was the producer of the Tahiti 80's debut album "Puzzle (1999)" and one of the owner of Stratosphere Sound Studio in N.Y.

Toujours dans la première moitié des années 90, deux EP's (dont un split avec Bis) sortent sur K Records et une compilation de leurs singles, "This is Heavenly", sur Elefant Records (1995). Après la disparition de Sarah Records en 1995, c'est le label Wiiija Records qui publie l'année suivante le dernier single du groupe et son ultime album, "Operation Heavenly". Cette année 1996 voit aussi une triste disparition... Mathew Fletcher se suicide en effet le 12 juin 1996. Les autres membres continuent un temps sous le nom de Marine Research. Ensuite, on retrouve Amelia Fletcher et Rob Pursey au sein de Sportique puis Tender Trap et maintenant The Catenary Wires.

The forming members were Amelia Fletcher (vocals, guitar), Peter Momtchiloff (guitar), Rob Pursey (bass) and Mathew Fletcher (drums) then joined by Cathy Rogers (vocals, keyboards). Firstly and logically, Heavenly signed to Sarah Records who released most of their records : three albums (("Heavenly vs Satan" in 1990, "Le Jardin de Heavenly" in 1992, "The decline and fall of Heavenly" in 1994) and five 7's. In the beginning of the 90's, the band also released two singles (including one split 7' with Bis) on K Records and one compilation, "This is Heavenly", via Elefant Records. After Sarah Records disappeared in 1995, it's Wiiija Records who published the last single and ultimate album, "Operation Heavenly", in 1996. Sadly, this year, Mathew Fletcher commits suicide on june 12. The remaining members formed then Marine Research. Later, Amelia Fletcher and Rob Pursey also played with Sportique, Tender Trap and now The Catenary Wires.
Danish indie pop band, formed in 1982, consists of Allan Jensen (lead singer), Henrik Balling (guitar), Torben Johansen (keyboards). They released two albums "Twist (1984)" and "Sitting in the Park (1986)" on Irmgardz...Records and then released three albums "The Quiet Boy Ate The Whole Cake (1991)", "Happy Ever After (1992)" and "Optimism (1994)". Hammer label released their records in Japan. They reunited in 2017 playing concerts and released the album "Whatever It Is (2019)", their first for 23 years.

They released two albums "Whirlpool (1990)" and "Blood Music (1993)" on Dedicated Records, also released a series of singles, including "Pearl", which featured guest vocals by Rachel Goswell of Slowdive. The band split in 1994 then reunioned with two gigs in London (2009–2010) and tours in North America and Japan in 2010.

Laetitia Sadier joined the band later. They released three studio albums "I Am A Wallet" (September Records 1987)", "The Enraged Will Inherit the Earth (Midnight Music 1989 )" and "Banking, Violence and the Inner Life Today" (Midnight Music 1999)". After Tim and Laetitia went on to form Stereolab.

In the beginning of the 90's, one of the best french indie pop band ever formed in Rennes : Des Garçons Ordinaires. These boys were four : Alban (bass), Stéphane (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Boris (guitar) and Emmanuel (vocals, drums, guitar, keyboards). Apart from the participations to several compilations (including the video "Munch Part I" - 1994 - from the australian label Season Records), the band sadly only released two records : one flexi, "Sister Love and Mr Moon" (1992) via Glam Records, and one album out in 1993 through the label from Bordeaux Cornflakes Zoo.

Indie pop band formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1994, by Stuart Murdoch and Stuart David, named after a novel by Cécile Aubry about a boy "Sébastien" and his dog "Belle", popular children's TV series in France in the late 60's. Their debut album "Tigermilk (1996)" was released on Electric Honey Records, originally only 1000 copies were pressed in vinyl. Stevie Jackson (guitar and vocals), Isobel Campbell (cello / vocals), Chris Geddes (keys) and Richard Colburn (drums) joined the group. They signed to Jeepster Recordings and released four albums "If You Feeling Sinister (1996)", "The Boy With The Arab Strap (1998)", "Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant (2000)" and "Storytelling (2002)". After the takeover of Rough Trade Records and release of three albums "Dear Catastrophe Waitress (2003, produced by Trevor Horn) ", "The Life Pursuit (2006)" and "Write about Love (2010)", Stuart David left the band to concentrate on his side project Looper and V-Twin. Isobel Campbell left the band in 2002 and started a solo career, first as The Gentle Waves and later under her own name. Stuart Murdoch directed the film "God Help The Girl (2014)" and also formed the band of the same name with female vocalists such as Catherine Ireton. The Bowlie Weekender was a music festival curated by Belle & Sebastian, held in 1999 and 2010. In the 2010's, they signed to U.S. label Matador Records and released two albums.

Formé à Edimbourg, en Ecosse, en 1983, il était composé d'Alex Taylor (chant), David Keegan (guitare), Sarah Kneale (basse), Laura McPhail (batterie) et Ann Donald (batterie). Il publie ses premiers singles sur le label de Bristol The Subway Organization avant de rejoindre 53rd & 3rd, un label co-fondé par David Keegan. En 1986, Shop Assistants rejoint le label Blue Guitar / Chrysalis qui édite un single et son premier et unique album. Cette année-là, il participe aussi à la compilation "C-86" publiée par le NME. Après deux singles sortis en 1990, David Keegan quitte le groupe et rejoint les Pastels. Ce sera la fin des Shop Assistants, groupe qui reste l'un des meilleurs représentants de la noisy pop.

Shop Assistants published their first singles via the Bristol label The Subway Organization and then joined 53rd & 3rd, label co-founded by David Keegan. In 1986, the band joined the label Blue Guitar / Chrysalis who released one single and its first and only album. They also contributed the NME compilation "C-86". In 1990, the band released two singles and disbanded when David Keegan joined The Pastels. Alex Taylor also played with The Motorcycle Boy with ex-members from Meat Whiplash. Ann Donald also joined The Fizzbombs. Shop Assistants remains one of the best noisy pop band.
Irish indie pop band, consists of Colm Fitzpatrick, Derrick Dalton and Eamonn Davis. Micky Rourke's Fridge Records released their two singles. Then the compilation "Long Ball Into Nowhere " was released on Firestation Records in 2006. Derrick formed Crumb and released the album "Evenings and Weekends (2005 / Micky Rourke's Fridge)", also formed Aeromodeller and released the album "First Flight (2010 / Yesboyicecream Records)".
