Pizzicato Five - Seven O'clock News, Twiggy Twiggy, Sweet Soul Review, Happy Sad, Magic Carpet Ride, On the Sunny Side of the Streetand Playboy Playgirl

Japanese pop band formed in Tokyo in 1985, consists of Yasuharu Konishi and Keitaro Takanami, with music blending together 60's pop, jazz and synth-pop. They released the first single "Audrey Hepburn Comple" on Haruomi Hosono's Non-Standard label in 1985. In 1987 the band released the first all-new album "Couples". Takao Tajima (Original Love)  joined the band as a new vocalist and worked at these two bands, then they released the second album "Belissima !" in 1988. He quit the band and Maki Nomiya joined as a vocalist.  They signed on Nippon Columbia and released the albums "This Year's Girl (1991)" including the songs "Thank You" and "Twiggy Twiggy ", "Overdose" including the songs "The Night Is Still Young", "Happy Sad", "On the Sunny Side of the Street", "Bossa Nova 2001" including the songs "Sweet Soul Revue", "Magic Carpet Ride" and "Go Go Dancer". The band became one of the leader of Shibuya-kei movement of the 90's. Their American debut came in 1994 with the release of the EP "Five By Five" on Matador Records. The band formed their own label  Readymade Records and released the albums including "Happy End of The World (1997)" and "The International Playboy & Playgirl (1998)".

東京で1985年にYasuharu KonishiとKeitaro Takanamiによって結成された日本のポップ・バンドで、60年代ポップ、ジャズ、シンセ・ポップがブレンドされた音楽性を持っています。ファースト・シングル"Audrey Hepburn Comple" はHaruomi HosonoのNon-Standardレーベルから1985年にリリース、1987年にバンドは初のフル・レングス・アルバム"Couples"を発表。Takao Tajima (Original Love)が新ボーカリストとしてバンドに加入し二つのバンドを掛け持ちしながらアルバム"Belissima !"を1988年にリリースしました。彼はバンドを辞めてMaki Nomiyaがボーカルとして加入。 Nippon Columbiaと契約し、アルバム"Thank You"や"Twiggy Twiggy "含む"This Year's Girl (1991)"や、"The Night Is Still Young", "Happy Sad", "On the Sunny Side of the Street"含む "Overdose"や、"Sweet Soul Revue", "Magic Carpet Ride", "Go Go Dancer"含む"Bossa Nova 2001"をリリースしました。バンドは90年代の渋谷系ムーブメントのバンドのリーダーとなり、1994年にMatador RecordsからEP "Five By Five"を発表しアメリカでのデビューとなりました。 自らのレーベルReadymade Recordsを立ち上げアルバム"Happy End of The World (1997)"や"The International Playboy & Playgirl (1998)"をリリースしました。
