The James Taylor Quartet - Blow Up and Love The Life

British four-piece jazz funk band formed in 1985 by James Taylor who was a British hammond organ and keyboard player, emerged from band The Prisoners. Their sounds had many styles from mod rock to funk and acid jazz and 1970's detective series theme tunes. They released the  first single  "Blow-Up" (a funked-up version of Herbie Hancock's main theme from 1960's film), was released in 1987 on the Re Elect The President label which would later become the Acid Jazz label. The band's debut seven track mini album "Mission Impossible (1987)" was comprised covers of 1960's film themes such as "Alfie", "Mrs. Robinson" and "Goldfinger". Their second album "The Money Spider (1987)" was the soundtrack to an imaginary spy film. In the early 90's the band changed direction and released a string of song-based albums to appeal to the then fashionable Soul and Acid Jazz scene in the UK. They featured vocalists such as Rose Windross of Soul ll Soul and Noel Mckoy. Noel became a permanent member of the band for part of this period. 

1985年にThe Prisonersメンバーだったイギリスのオルガン & キーボード奏者のJames Taylorによって結成された四人組ジャズ・ファンク・バンド。彼らの音楽性は、モッド・ロックからファンク～アシッド・ジャズ～ 70'年代の探偵シリーズ主題歌まで様々なスタイルを持っています。ファースト・シングル "Blow-Up" (Herbie Hancockの60年代映画の代表曲)は1987年に、後にAcid JazzレーベルとなるThe Re Elect The Presidentからリリースされました。バンドの7曲入りミニ・アルバム"Mission Impossible (1987)"は60年代の映画主題歌"Alfie", "Mrs. Robinson", "Goldfinger"などのカバーが収録。彼らのセカンド・アルバム"The Money Spider (1987)"は架空のスパイ映画サウンドトラックでした。 90年代初頭バンドは方向を変えUKで当時ファッショナブルだったソウル～アシッド・ジャズ・シーンにアピールしたアルバムをリリース。Soul ll Soulの Rose WindrossやNoel Mckoyをゲスト・ボーカルとして迎え、Noelはこの時期のバーマネント・メンバーでした。
