London-based indie pop band, founded in 1995 by Shirley Lee (guitar and lead vocals), Simon Calnan (keyboards and backing vocals), Ronan Larvor (drums), and Martin Talbot (bass guitar). They released the debut album "A Week Away" on their own label Hitback Records in 1999 and the latest album was "Are You from the Future ?" in 2019. Their songs "Sweeping the Nation" and "This is Green, This is Grey" featured the compilation "Airpop Terminal 2" on German label Apricot Records in 2001.

(guitare), Chris Quinn (batterie), Matthew Drummond (guitare) et James Moody
(basse). Leur producteur Ian Carmichael (One Dove) joue quant à lui souvent du clavier sur leurs disques et James Moody sera remplacé à la basse par Ronnie Borland en 1993. Leur premier disque est un split flexi avec The Sea Urchins sorti par Sha La La en 1987. Ainsi, on les retrouve ensuite logiquement sur Sarah Records qui publie leur premier 45 tours, "I've got a habit", en 1988. Jusqu'à sa séparation en 1995, le combo écossais sort donc trois albums et six EP's avec le label de Bristol. Un autre 45 tours sort sur Caff Corporation ainsi qu'un split single avec Bouquet et Crystal Garden sur Bring On Bull Records. Le groupe se reforme en 2004 et édite vingt ans après sa création son quatrième album, "Good to be a stranger", en 2007 sur le label espagnol Siesta Records. Le label anglais Pebble Records publie leur cinquième album, "The lost star" (ré-édité cette année par Firestation Records), en 2010 et son sixième album, "Beatitude #9", en 2014 sur un autre label espagnol, Acuarela Discos. Pour célébrer les 30 ans de carrière des Orchids, Cherry Red Records a sorti en 2017 un double CD compilation : "Who needs tomorrow... A 30 years retrospective".

Pop/rock band formed in 1988 in Skellefteå, Sweden, initial line-up was Pär Wiksten (vocals, guitars), Christina Bergmark (keyboards, vocals), Stefan Schönfeldt (guitars) and Fredrik Schönfeldt (bass) with Gunnar Karlsson (drums) and Björn Malmquist (violin). They released their self-titled debut album on MNW Records in 1990, then signed to Snap (later changed name Soap) Records and released three albums "Aquanautic (1992)", "Be A Girl (1994)" and "Bagsy Me (1997)". Indolent Records released their records for the UK. In 2009 they announced they had split with Pär Wiksten going solo. Swedish pop band formed in 1997 by Mikael Matsson and Torbjorn Thorsen after the break up of Mikael's band Red Sleeping Beauty. "The Sound of Shermans," was released as a 7" on American label Blackbean and Placenta. Then the band recruited Christer Nilsson to play bass and eventually Torbjorn left the band to start another band Aerospace. Ingela Karlsson joined the band as a new vocalist. The band compiled all of the Shermans early singles and compilation tracks, along with several new songs, on one CD called "Casual." In 1999, they signed to Shelflife Records and the album "In Technicolor" was their full-length release in the US in 2000, Shelflife Records also re-released "Casual" for the US. Quince Records also released the compilation "The Shermans - Casual" in 1999 for Japanese fans.

Greek indie pop band, formed in 1992. Zissimos Tryfides (One Night Suzan and Impossible Tymes) started giving solo acoustic shows in Athens, Greece, assisted by Makis Petratos (Next Time Passions). Then they released the 7" "Songs from the Valley of Love" in 1994 on This Happy Feeling label. They also joined many compilations such as Tweenet’s "Seven Summers", Shelflife’s "Whirl-Wheels" and Make Me Happy's "A Sparkle from the Past" during the 90's. They released the eight-track CD "Heaven Airlines" on Shelflife Records in 1998. Their last release was "Soft Escape" album on Greek Pop Art Records in 2000.

Formé à Leeds, en Angleterre, en 1985, sur les cendres des Lost Pandas, The Wedding Present comprenait dans son line up original David Gedge (chant, guitare) - seul membre permanent du groupe -, Peter Solowka (guitare), Keith Gregory (basse) et Shaun Charman (batterie). Après plusieurs singles, le combo sort en 1987 son premier album "George Best", ainsi nommé en l'honneur du légendaire footballeur nord-irlandais, le tout sur son propre label : Reception Records. Après la compilation "Tommy 1985-1987" publiée en 1988, Shaun Charman quitte le groupe - il est remplacé par Simon Smith - pour former The Popguns. On le retrouvera plus tard au sein de Turbocat, The Fireworks et maintenant Jetstream Pony. L'année suivante, sort leur second album "Bizarro" et Peter Solowka quitte lui aussi le groupe. Paul Dorrington le remplace à la guitare. Le troisième album "Seamonsters" paraît en 1991. En 1992, The Wedding Present propose une initiative originale : sortir le premier lundi de chaque mois un single comprenant une reprise en face B. Ces 45 tours seront édités par la suite en compilations : "Hit Parade 1" et "Hit Parade 2". Deux albums sortent les années suivantes : "Watusi" en 1994 et "Saturnalia" en 1996. En 1997, David Gedge met en sommeil le groupe pour se concentrer sur son nouveau projet musical : Cinerama. The Wedding Present est de retour en 2004 avec un nouveau line up. Toujours emmené par son leader, il a depuis sorti quatre albums : "Take fountain" en 2005, "El Rey" en 2008, "Valentina" en 2012 et "Going, going..." en 2016. After the release of the compilation "Tommy 1985-1987" out in 1988, Shaun Charman - replaced by Simon Smith - left the band to form The Popguns. Later he will also join Turbocat, The Fireworks and now Jetstream Pony. In 1989, The Wedding Present released its second album "Bizarro" and Peter Solowka left also the band. He was replaced by Paul Dorrington. The third album "Seamonsters" was out in 1991. In 1992, The Wedding Present spent the whole year issuing a single on the first monday of each month including a cover on the B-sides. This 7"s were later released on compilations : "Hit Parade 1" and "Hit Parade 2". Two albums were released the following years : "Watusi" in 1994 and "Saturnalia" in 1996. In 1997, David Gedge stopped the band to concentrate on his new musical project : Cinerama. The Wedding Present were back in 2004 with a new line up. Scottish indie rock band formed in 1981, consists of David and Kenneth McCluskey, Craig Gannon (Aztec Camera and The Smiths), Laurence Donegan, Robert Hodgens, Gary Crowley and Russell Irvine. They released the debut album "Sisters (1984)" on London Records and the second album "Second (1992)" on Vinyl Japan Records. The band split up in the mid 80's, but their song "Young at Heart" was used in a Volkswagen TV advertisement and re-issued. Later David and Ken formed The McCluskey Brothers and released three albums. David also joined Jim Beattie's (ex-Spirea X) Adventures in Stereo.
