1. When / why did you form the band ?

いつ / 何故バンドを結成したのですか？

Rose McDowall : I allways wanted to do music, to sing but my first band the Poems I played drums.

私はいつも歌うために音楽をやりたくて。だけど私の最初のバンドThe Poemsではドラムをやっていました。

2. Strawberry Switchblade was given this band- name by James Kirk from Orange Juice. Is it true ? You didn't sign to Postcard Records ?

Strawberry Switchbladeというバンド名はOrange JuiceのJames Kirkから名付られたというのは本当ですか？Postcard Recordsとは契約しなかったのですか？

Rose McDowall : Yes James kirk a very good friend gave me the name. No we did not joing Postcard though The Poems where suporting Orange Juice and at one point we joined as one big band we swapped instraments that was a lot of fun.

3. Firstly Strawberry Switchblade was a four-piece band. The EP "1982 4-Piece Demo" was re-issued in 2017. Why did Janice Goodlett and Carole McGowan left the band ?

最初Strawberry Switchbladeは四人組でしたね。EP "1982 4-Piece Demo"は2017年にリイシューされました。何故Janice GoodlettとCarole McGowanはバンドを去ったのですか？

Rose McDowall : It was me then me and Jill then 4 piece Janice and Carol left Strawberry Switchblade because they chose to keep there day jobs and we got to busy to do both.

4. Your first single "Trees and Flowers" was released on Will Sergent's (Echo and The Bunnymen) label 92 Happy Customers in 1983. Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera) joined this song as a guitarist ? Please tell me the details.

Rose McDowall : Roddy Frame played guitar on it and the Madness rhythm section played on it to we wanted to release on Will's label as we liked him and wanted to keep our roots indi.

Roddy Frameがギターを弾き、Madnessのリズム隊がプレイしました。Willのレーベルからリリースしたかったのです、彼のことが好きで、インディに保ちたいと思ったから。

5. The PV of "Since Yesterday" was very impressive at the time because your polka-dress was so cute ! Was it your idea ?

Rose McDowall : Yes I wore similar cloths in my first band . I made my own cloths and loved polka dots since I was very young.

6. The single "Jolene" was a cover song of Dolly Parton. Do you like 60's pop ? What kind of music were you influenced by ?

Rose McDowall : I love Dolly I love 60s music it is my favourate decade for music and fashion. Inspired by a lot velvet underground etc. but my dad's 50's 60's record collection was my bigest influence. The punk movement made it all possible, it was an exciting time.

7. Why did the group split up in 1986 ?

Rose McDowall : It had become very hard for us to continue with the demand .Jill could not travel so we could not tour there where other problems Jills agoraphobia was a big problem and she was not happy for me to represent us both like I had allways done in the begining.

続けることは困難になりました。Jillは旅行出来なかったので、ツアーすることができませんでした。Jillの広場恐怖症は大きな問題でした。彼女は私が私たち両方をリプレゼントすることを喜んでいませんでした。

8. You continued to sing as backing or lead vocals for Coil, Current 93, Death in June, Felt, Nurse with Wound, Psychic TV etc. Do you like these kind of noise music ?

あなたはCoil, Current 93, Death in June, Felt, Nurse with Wound, Psychic TVなどのリード / バック・ボーカルとして歌うことを続けましたね。こんな感じのノイズ・ミュージックは好きですか？

Rose McDowall : all groups are noise groups some more experimental than otheres I like a wide range of music.

全てのグループは他よりも実験的なノイズ・グループです。私は幅広い音楽が好きです。

9. You released the single "Don't Fear The Reaper" in 1988 and the album "Cut with The Cake Knife" in 2004 as a solo. In 1988 you sang a song "Crystal Nights" as Ornamental. can you tell us about this album and Ornamental ?

ソロとして、1988年にシングル"Don't Fear The Reaper"を、2004年にはアルバム"Cut with The Cake Knife"をリリースしましたね。1988年にはOrnamentalとして"Crystal Nights"を歌っていました。このアルバムやOrnamentalについて教えて下さい。

Rose McDowall : The early Don't Fear the Reaper was put out without my permission. Cut with The Cake Knife where a bunch of demos I did when SS split up. Crystal Nights was written in Iceland it was n.o. 1 in the charts there I recorded it with half of the Sugarcubes + Hilmer orn Hilmerson HOH! we did a few songs . Einer and I sang no pain that was fun I love the Icelandic and I love Iceland.

don't fear the reaperは私の許可なしにリリースされました。デモのCut with The Cake KnifeはS.S.が解散した時に作りました。Crystal Nightsはアイスランドで書き、チャートでナンバー・ワンとなりました。半分をThe Sugar cubes + Hilmer orn Hilmerson HOH! とレコーディングしました。Einerと私はno painを歌いました。私はアイスランド人やアイスランドが大好きです。

10. What bands/artists do you listen to at the moment ?

現在はどのようなバンド / アーティストを聴いていますか？

Rose McDowall : I love the Jesus and Mary Chain, Cult with No Name , Jet Stream Pony The Only Ones Vic Godard many more.

11. Please tell us your future plans ?

今後の予定を教えて下さい。

Rose McDowall : I have a lot of work on an lp with my band another project with Jerome Alexander called Velocity 23 a duet lp writing a score for a movie and some other film work and there is more .a very busy year.

Jerome AlexanderとのVelocity23という別プロジェクトでをデュエットLPを作っています。と呼んでいるLPでたくさんの仕事をしています。映画や他の映画作品のために書いています。とても忙しい年。
