English band formed in 1982 by Paul Weller, the former singer, songwriter and guitarist with The Jam and keyboardist Mick Talbot, a member of Dexys Midnight Runners and The Merton Parkas. Other artists such as a drummer Steve White (husband of Kirsty Maccoll), a vocalist Dee C. Lee (Weller's then girlfriend) and Tracie Young (on Weller's Respond Records). They released the debut album "Cafe Bleu (US versioon "My Ever Changing Moods" was added "A Solid Bond In Your Heart" and the UK 12" version of "My Ever Changing Moods" / 1984)" and the second album "Our Favourite Shop (1985)" on Polydor Records. They broke up in 1989 and Talbot and White released two albums as Talbot/White and formed The Players with Damon Minchella and and Aziz Ibrahim during the 90's. Weller established himself as a solo artist in 1991. You should listen to the compilation "Singular Adventures of The Style Council" on Polydor Records in 1989.

Mocca is a pop band from Indonesia, consists of Arina Ephipania Simangunsong, Riko Prayitno, Achmad Pratama and Indra Massad. Their first album "My Diary (2002)" was sold over 100.000 copies. 1.Anorak Crumble : How did you all meet ? Why and when did you decide to form Mocca ?
どのようにしてMoccaを結成したのですか？いつ / 何故このバンドをやろうと決めたのですか？
All of mocca members studied design at ITENAS Bandung-Indonesia, so we were collage buddies. We had same perspective, passion and goals toward making music, so we decided to form a band back in 1999.
2. Anorak Crumble : Mocca released three albums “My Diary” (2003)", “Friends” (2004), "Colours (2007)" on FFWD Records, and two albums "Home (2014)" and "Lima (2018)" on Lucky Me Records. Please tell us about them ? Why did you sign to FFWD Records ? Why did you found Lucky Me Records ?
MoccaはFFWD Recordsから “My Diary” (2003)", “Friends” (2004), "Colours (2007)"三枚目のアルバムを～Lucky Me Recordsから "Home (2014)", "Lima (2018)" 二枚のアルバムをリリースしましたね。これらについて教えて下さい。何故 FFWD Recordsと契約したのですか？何故みずからのレーベルLucky Me Recordsを設立したのですか？
My diary (actually released December 15th 2002) was written sequentially like reading (in this case listening) to a diary.
It sold over 100.000 copies.
It was way beyond our expectations. One of the song in the album called ‘Me and My boyfriend’ won MTV Indonesia award as a best video of year 2003.
"My Diary"は(2002年の12月15日にリリース)、日記を読む(この場合は"聴く")みたいな感じで作られました。10万枚以上も売れたんだよ。それは私達の予想を遥かに越えていました。アルバムの中の曲‘Me and My boyfriend’は、MTVインドネシア・アワード で2003年のベスト・ビデオ・オブ・イヤーとなりました。
Friends (2004) was our second album, and we explore a lot on adding more instruments like strings and richer brass sections.
This album featured one of Indonesian legendary singer mr. Bob Tutupoli in ‘Swing it, Bob’ song and ms. Karolina Komstedt from Club 8 in ‘I would never’.
People expect us to make a same vibe as plain and simple as the previous album, so it did not sell as much as ‘My dairy’ but we discover people who really listens and appreciate our music.
In Colours (2007) we challenge ourselves to make a semi live recording, so in some of the songs, guitar, drum and bass were recorded together while vocals were taken separately. There were some hits from this album like ‘The best thing’ which used in commercials in South Korea.
We covered two songs: ‘Sing’ from the carpenters, ‘Hyperballad’ song by bjork and lots of people enjoyed this version.
We also invited Pelle Carlberg from Edson to sing a duet in ‘Let me go’ song.
Through this album we encountered so many loyal fans that keep supporting us till this day.
"Colours (2007)"では、セミ・ライブ・レコーディングにチャレンジしたんだ。なので曲の幾つかは、ボーカルを別で録っている間に、ギターとドラムとベースを一緒に録音した。アルバムには、韓国でコマーシャルに使われたヒット曲‘The best thing’も収録されていし、The Carpentersの‘Sing’やBjorkの‘Hyperballad’のカバー曲も…多くの人々がこのバージョンを楽しんでくれた。また、EdsonのPelle Carlbergを迎えて‘Let me go’ でデュエットしている。このアルバムで沢山の熱心なファンに会いました、今日までサポートし続けてくれています。
(By the way we released an EP in 2005 called music inspired a movie ‘Untuk Rena’ that featured ‘Happy’ song and a mini album in 2010 known as Dear friends.)
Lima means five in Indonesian language. We simply named it Lima because it’s 5th album. After 19 years, that was the first time for us to write a full album in Indonesian. ‘Teman sejati’ (means: True Friend) was the single and we had younger Indonesian generations as new listeners. Mocca’s SF (fan club) was also involved in the video making.
The second single ‘Ketika semua telah berakhir’ (means: when everything comes to an end) featured Gardika Gigih a talented musician for Yogyakarta. This also became a hit among sad girl-sad boy club, haha! It draw about 3000 comments on the video (on youtube) where people shared their personal story after listening to this song.
During that time we believed that FFWD is the perfect label for us. Music wise and goal wise. They also have relations to many great indie label records and we dreamt that someday they will open doors for us to distribute our music to other parts of the world (which came true).
Lucky me records is our self owned label, we realized at one point a band/musicians must hold their own rights to master recording they made.

3. Anorak Crumble : The new album will be out on your own label Lucky Me Records in this summer 2020. Please tell us about it...about songs, recordings, concepts etc. etc.
ニュー・アルバムは、2020年の夏貴方達のレーベルLucky Me Recordsからリリース予定ですね。これについて教えて下さい。
This album consist of seven songs that begins with an intro and ends by an outro.
このアルバムは七曲から成り、イントロで始まりアウトロで終わる。
We started producing this album in the beginning of 2020, our plan was to make an E.P (mini album).
このアルバムを2020年の始めにプロデュースし始めた。EP (ミニ・アルバム)を作る予定だった。
In February 14th 2020 we released “Simple I love You” song as an introduction for this E.P.
2020年の二月に“Simple I love You”という曲をリリースした、このEPのイントロダクションとして。
Alas.. in March everything changed when corona virus hits Indonesia.
ああ…三月に全てが変わってしまった。コロナがインドネシアを襲って。
We were bound to stay and to work from home. We held band meetings via zoom and decided that we will go forward creating music and change our plan from E.P to a full album instead.
About half of the recordings were made from our own homes, so we go through crash courses on how to do everything by ourselves on making a proper high quality tracks that does not sound like a demo tape.
4. Anorak Crumble : When did you start to listen to pop music ?

Among four of us, Riko (guitar) is the only person who really listens to pop music. He started to listen to it around the late 90s during college years.

This time the four of us (main mocca members) reside in Indonesia capital city Jakarta, but our management team and technicians stayed in Bandung.
We are still coping and adapting to this new normal situation.
In Bandung there are some growing music labels but the trend is shifting. People leans towards digital distributions that change how to approach things including promotions, etc.

British alternative rock band from West Midlands, formed in 1986 . The original line-up was Miles Hunt on vocals and guitar, Malcolm Treece on guitar and vocals, Rob Jones on bass and Martin Gilks on drums. They signed with Polydor Records and released four albums
"The Eight Legged Groove Machine (1988)", "Hup (1989)", "Never Loved Elvis (1991)" and "Construction for the Modern Idiot (1993)". They covered Tommy Roe's "Dizzy" with Vic Reeves in 1991. The band split in 1994 and Hunt formed Vent 414, with ex-Senseless Things bassist Morgan Nicholls and Wonder Stuff drummer Peter Howard. Later Hunt started to tour as a solo artist.

They emerged as part of the C-86 movement, formed in 1986 and consists of singer/guitarist Andrew Jarrett, guitarist Jon Kent, bassist Rupert Taylor, and drummer Jez Butler. They Founded their own label, Raving Pop Blast! and released a handful of singles as well as the full-length album "Plug" between 1987 and 1990. Then they signed with the Subway Organisation label and released the album "The Alvin Is King!" in 1988.Following the breakup of the band, Jarrett formed Beatnik Filmstars. You should listen to the compilation, remastered greatest-hits and rarities collection "I Know It’s Only Indiepop...But I Like It" on Big Pink Cake in 2011.

In 1986 they supported Makin' Time in London and they released four songs for their debut 12" single "Only in My Dreams" on the band's own Keep It label. In 1987 they recorded the second track "Trapped in Time" for another Countdown compilation "The Final Countdown". Their compilation album "The Reflection - The Complete Collection 1985-87" was released on Firestation Records in 2015.

Formed in 1982 in Manchester, by Jim Glennie, Tim Booth, Larry Gott and Gavan. Andy Diagram (The Pale Fountains and Dislocation Dance) was an ancient member. They supported for The Smiths in 1985 on the Meat is Murder tour. The Smiths covered James' 'What's The World' track during this tour. Their album "Gold Mother" was released in 1990, just as the 'Madchester' movement, their singles "How Was It for You", the remixed "Come Home" and "Lose Control" all made the Top 40. They played two sell-out dates at the Manchester G-Mex. In 1991 their song "Sit Down" led to a re-recorded version being released as a single, reaching number 2 in the UK Singles Chart. The band split up in 2001.

Born in Derby in 1965, Tracey Young was discovered by The Jam frontman Paul Weller. She signed to his own label Respond Records. She joined as a back vocalist for The Jam's final single "Beat Surrender" as well as The Style Council's first single "Speak Like a Child". Also she toured with The Style Council and had UK hit singles "The House That Jack Built" and "Give it Some Emotion" in 1983. Her debut album "Far from the Hurting Kind" was released in 1984 under the name Tracie. Weller produced and backed the record and wrote some of the songs and Elvis Costello wrote the song "(I Love You) When You Sleep" for her. Then she signed to Polydor Records but the second album "No Smoke Without Fire", was never released by them. It was released in 2014 by Cherry Red Records.

British band from West Midlands. They signed to the Countdown Records and were part of the mod revival scene of the 80's. They were named after Makin' Time a song by The Creation. The band consisted of Mark McGounden (vocals/guitar), Fay Hallam (organ/vocals), Martin Blint (bass) and Neil Clitheroe (drums). They released the debut single "Here Is My Number" and the debut album "Rhythm and Soul" in 1985. After they split up Blunt went on to perform in The Charlatans, Hallam joined Prime Movers and Phaze, moved into a solo career. McGounden formed The Upper Fifth and Deep Six.
