The Pastels - Comin' Through & Nothing to be Done

The group formed in 1981 in Glasgow. The band released the first single "Songs for Children" on Whaam! Records in 1982. The band released a series of singles from 1982-1986, "Something Going On" & the B-side "I Wonder Why" in 1983. Then they released "Million Tears" in 1984, "I'm Alright With You" in 1985 and "Truck Train Tractor" in 1986. These releases were published on a variety of labels including Whaam!, Creation and Glass Records. They released the debut album "Up for a Bit With The Pastels (Glass Records / 1987, re-issue on Paperhouse / 1991)", follow-up "Sittin' Pretty (Chapter 22 / 1989)", and became a new line-up, Stephen McRobbie, Wright (Aggi), Katrina Mitchell, David Keegan (of Shop Assistants) and Gerard Love (of Teenage Fanclub) on guitar. They signed to Domino Records and completed two albums "Mobile Safari (1995)" and "Illumination (1997)" and "Illuminati (1998)" with remixes featured My Bloody Valentine and Jim O'Rourke.  Their next release was the soundtrack to David Mackenzie's "The Last Great Wilderness (Geographic / 2003)". It featured a track recorded in collaboration with Pulp's Jarvis Cocker. In 2009 They collaborated with Tenniscoats from Tokyo, Japan, released the album "Two Sunsets" on Geographic Records in 2009. In 2013, they released their first proper album in sixteen years "Slow Summits" on Domino Records. Katrina formed Melody Dog with Pat Laureate and released two singles on K Records and Seminal Twang in early 90's.
