Quand on pense à Sarah Records, comment ne pas évoquer The Sugargliders ? A la base, il s'agissait d'un duo formé par les frères Josh et Joel Meadows, en 1989, à Melbourne, en Australie. Ils n'ont, par volonté, jamais sorti aucun album, préférant le format efficace du 45 tours incluant systématiquement trois titres. Entre 1989 et 1994, date de la séparation du groupe - on retrouve ensuite les frères Meadows aux commandes de The Steinbecks -, The Sugargliders ont donc sorti dix 45 tours sur différents labels : Summershine Records tout d'abord ("Sway", "Butterfly soup" et "Furlough" en 1990 et 1991), Marineville Records ensuite ("Another faux-pas in the cathedral of love" en 1992) et Sarah Records enfin ("Letter from a lifeboat", "Seventeen", "Will we ever learn ?", "Ahprahran", "Trumpet play" et "Top 40 sculpture" entre 1992 et 1994). Trente chansons au total - que l'on retrouve sur deux compilations éditées par Sarah Records et Matinée Recordings -, aucune fausse note. Car ils étaient parfaits.
The Sugargliders were an indie pop band formed in 1989 in Melbourne, Australia, by the brothers Josh and Joel Meadows. Between 1989 and 1994, they released ten 7"s through three labels : firstly Summershine Records ("Sway", "Butterfly soup" and "Furlough" in 1990 and 1991), then Marineville Records ("Another faux-pas in the cathedral of love" in 1992) and finally Sarah Records ("Letter from a lifeboat", "Seventeen", "Will we ever learn ?", "Ahprahran", "Trumpet play" and "Top 40 sculpture" between 1992 and 1994). They disbanded in 1994 and reformed as The Steinbecks. Two compilations were released by Sarah Records ("We're all trying to get there" in 1994) and Matinée Recordings ("A nest with a view 1990-1994"). The Sugargliders were perfect !
