English synth-pop duo formed in London in 1981, consists of Neil Tennant who was an assistant editor at Smash Hits and Chris Lowe. They are the most successful duo in UK music history, since 1984 they have achieved 42 Top 30 singles  in the UK Singles Chart, including four UK number ones : "West End Girls" (also number one on the US Billboard Hot 100), "It's a Sin", "Always on My Mind (the cover of Elvis Presley)" and "Heart", other hit songs include Village People cover "Go West", "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)" and "What Have I Done to Deserve This?", duet with Dusty Springfield. They have 14 studio albums including "Please (1986)", "Actually (1987)", "Introspective (1988)", "Behavior (1990)", "Bilingual (1996)". Their latest album is  "Hotspot" on their own label  in 2020. They signed with the London-based Parlophone label and released the single "West End Girls" with producer Stephen Hague in 1985. The PV of  "It's a Sin" was collaborated with the  director Derek Jarman. In 1988 they wrote and produced the song "I'm Not Scared" for Patsy Kensit's band Eighth Wonder. Trevor Horn produced their single "Left to My Own Devices" and a cover version of the Sterling Void single "It's Alright" in 1989. Tennant worked with Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr on their first album as Electronic. In 1994 they remixed the Parlophone act Blur's single "Girls & Boys". They duet with Kylie Minogue for the song "In Denial" from the album "Nightlife (1999)" . In 2002 they released the successful album "Release". Most of the tracks were produced by the duo themselves and many featured Johnny Marr on guitar. In 2006 they remixed Madonna's single "Sorry".
