Belle and Sebastian - Like Dylan In The Movies, Legal Man & Another Sunny Day

Indie pop band formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1994, by Stuart Murdoch and Stuart David, named after a novel by Cécile Aubry about a boy "Sébastien" and his dog "Belle", popular children's TV series in France in the late 60's. Their debut album "Tigermilk (1996)" was released on Electric Honey Records, originally only 1000 copies were pressed in vinyl. Stevie Jackson (guitar and vocals), Isobel Campbell  (cello / vocals), Chris Geddes (keys) and Richard Colburn (drums) joined the group. They signed to Jeepster Recordings and released four albums "If You Feeling Sinister (1996)", "The Boy With The Arab Strap (1998)", "Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant (2000)" and "Storytelling (2002)". After the takeover of Rough Trade Records and release of three albums "Dear Catastrophe Waitress (2003, produced by Trevor Horn) ", "The Life Pursuit (2006)" and "Write about Love (2010)", Stuart David left the band to concentrate on his side project Looper and V-Twin. Isobel Campbell left the band in 2002 and started a solo career, first as The Gentle Waves and later under her own name. Stuart Murdoch directed the film "God Help The Girl (2014)" and also formed the band of the same name with female vocalists such as Catherine Ireton. The Bowlie Weekender was a music festival curated by Belle & Sebastian, held in 1999 and 2010. In the 2010's, they signed to U.S. label Matador Records and released two albums.
