The Wake - O Pamela & Carbrain & English rain

Fondé à Glasgow en 1981 par Gerard "Caesar" McNulty, Steven Allen et Carolyn Allen, The Wake est un groupe indie pop écossais tout d'abord repéré par Factory Records qui sortira ses premiers singles et ses deux premiers albums : "Harmony" (1982) et "Here comes everybody" (1985). En 1982, Bobby Gillespie intègre le combo à la basse et le quitte un an plus tard. Au début des années 80, The Wake, que l'on compare alors souvent à New Order, tourne avec le groupe de Manchester avant d'être "gentiment" remercié par Factory... Il trouve refuge chez Sarah Records avec qui il sortira aussi plusieurs singles et deux albums : "Make it loud" (1990) et "Tidal wave of hype" (1994). Le groupe se sépare en 1995, se reforme en 2009 et sort un cinquième album, "A light far out", en 2012.

In 1982, Bobby Gillsepie joined the band as a bassist and left it one year later. They first signed to Factory Records who released their first singles and two albums : "Harmony" (1982) and "Here comes everybody" (1985). In the beginning, The Wake was often compared to New Order and even toured with them. In the end of the 80's, they signed to Sarah Records who also released several singles and two albums : "Make it loud" (1990) and "Tidal wave of hype" (1994). The Wake splitted in 1995, reformed in 2009 and released a fifth album, "A light far out", in 2012.
