C'est à Donostia (Saint-Sébastien), au Pays Basque espagnol, que s'est formé Le Mans au début des années 90 sur les cendres d'Aventuras de Kirlian, le groupe qui constituait l'avant-garde de ce que l'on a appelé le "Donosti sound" influencé par les Marine Girls, Young Marble Giants, ou encore des labels comme Cherry Red, Postcard Records ou encore Sarah Records. Le Mans était composé de Jone Gabarain (chant), Ibón Errazkin (guitare), Peru Izeta (guitare), Teresa Iturrioz (basse) et Gorka Ochoa (batterie). Entre 1993 et 1998, au fil de quatre albums et de nombreux singles principalement sortis sur Elefant Records, leur pop délicate et mélancolique a constitué une source d'inspiration pour une scène indie pop espagnole extrêmement fertile. Ibón Errazkin et Gorka Ochoa sont également connus pour avoir formé l'excellent groupe Daily Planet et le second fut membre des merveilleux El Joven Bryan Superstar. Après la séparation de Le Mans, Ibón Errazkin et Teresa Iturrioz ont formé le duo Single !
It's in Donostia (San Sebastián), in the Basque Country, that Le Mans was formed in the beginning of the 90's by Jone Gabarain (vocals), Ibón Errazkin (guitar), Peru Izeta (guitar), Teresa Iturrioz (bass) et Gorka Ochoa (drums).Most of them played before with Aventuras de Kirlian, the spanish band who started the called "Donosti Sound" that sound basically influenced by Marine Girls and Young Marble Giants and groups of Cherry Red, Postcard Records and Sarah Records labels. Between 1993 and 1998, Le Mans released four albums and many singles mostly through Elefant Records. Their delicate and melancholic pop was a source of inspiration for a spanish indie pop scene extremely fertile. Ibón Errazkin and Gorka Ochoa are also known for playing with the excellent band Daily Planet. Gorka Ocho also played with the marvelous El Joven Bryan Superstar. After Le Mans' split, Ibón Errazkin and Teresa Iturrioz formed the duo Single !
