Formé en 1987 à Salisbury dans le sud de l'Angleterre, The Mayfields était un groupe indie pop qui a eu une carrière très courte - seulement deux ans ! - mais impeccable. Chaque morceau était en effet un petit bijou d'une pop qui nous rappelle le meilleur des Razorcuts ou les débuts de Primal Scream. A se mettre sous la dent, donc, seulement un split flexi (avec un autre groupe de Salisbury, The Badgeman ?), et deux 45 tours sortis sur Ambition Records et The Bus Stop Label. Fort heureusement, le label allemand Firestation Records a édité une compilation il y a deux ans. Un must !
The Mayfields were an indie pop band formed in 1987 in Salisbury, in the south of England. Their existence lasted only two years but during that short time they published real indie pop classics. Only three records were released by the band : one split flexi (with The Badgeman ?, another band from Salisbury) and two 7"s via Ambition Records and The Bus Stop Label. Luckily, the german label Firestation Records released a compilation from The Mayfields two years ago. A must have !
