The Smiths - This Charming Man, Ask & Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before

English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982, consists of vocalist Morrissey,  guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce. They signed to Rough Trade Records and released four albums "The Smiths (1984)", "Meat Is Murder (1985)", "The Queen Is Dead (1986)" and "Strangeway Here We Come (1987)" and the compilation "Hatfull of Hollow (1984)". Craig Cannon (Aztec Camera) joined the band and became 5 piece band in 1986. They collaborated with Sandie Shaw and released 7' single  "Hand In Glove (1984)". Kirsty Maccoll sing the song "Ask" on back vocals. Another compilation "Louder Than Bombs" was intended for the overseas market, for USA especially. They are one of the most important to emerge from the British indie music scene of the 1980's. The band split up in 1987. Morrissey began to work on a solo recording. He collaborated with the producer Stephen Street and the guitarist Vini Reilly from Durutti Column and released the album "Viva Hate" in 1988. Marr returned to the music scene in 1989 with New Order's Bernard Sumner and Neil Tennant from Pet Shop Boys and formed Electronic. He also join the bands like The The, The Pretenders, Bryan Ferry, Talking Heads, etc. In 2000, he formed Healers. Rourke joined The Buzzcocks and Joyce presented the alternative radio show Revolution 96.2 FM.
